Musical origins: I began playing at age 8 through my public school music program. The rest of my family practiced brass instruments and sang in choirs; I had to be different!

Favorite obscure piece: Waltzes by Fred Lerdahl

Which composer would have had the best social media: I think Beethoven could have had one of the more sassy social media presences!

Favorite non-classical musician or band: Chet Baker, Chris Thile

Musical guilty pleasure: Car Karaoke to songs on the radio!

Favorite non-musical hobby or activity: Playing frisbee and cooking

Favorite book: The Wise Man’s Fear by Patrick Rothfuss

Favorite painting: Bedroom in Arles by Vincent van Gogh

Piece of advice for a young classical musician: Study all forms of art and culture, and learn to draw inspiration for your music from both.
